I am so frickin Naive - UPDATED!!

Seriously.

All of you with children - be prepared to laugh manically at me right now.

1. Holy crap, am I tired. Seriously. In the past (nearly) two weeks, I have fallen asleep eating dinner three times.
2. How do you manage if you already have one (or more) at home? I can barely take care of myself, let alone any other child?
3. SEriously - how is it possible to be THIS tired and still not sleep? Every morning, about 2:30, I get up to go pee and then I am WIDE AWAKE! Let's go! Let's do something! Laundry? Clean the kitchen? Watch more TV? Play on the computer? Wonder why people aren't updating their blogs at that insane hour? Come ONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN! Let's go! Let's do ALL of these things!!!

Please tell me this insomnia crap gets better...at least give me some inkling of hope that maybe for 2 or so months, it will be better??
4. Morning sickness is NOTHING like what I thought it would be. In my past life every time I have puked, it has a very distinct pre-puking feeling. This? Yeah, not so much. There is no "pre-puking" warning. It's all of a sudden - SPRINT toward the bathroom.
5. HOw is it that the very THOUGHT of food makes me vomit? Just the thought. No tasting, no smelling (don't get me wrong - that can do it too) but the whole thought of food? Let's see - things that have made me puke
a. Mark mentioning steamed broccoli.
b. Looking at the assorted home-made cream cheeses at work for bagels
c. And last week, when I couldn't sleep and I was watching Malcolm in the Middle at 4am, they mentioned something called blood sausages. I had never heard of them, but the thought of them made me gag. Then I puked. Then, in my infinite brilliance, I went to work and g00gled them. BIG mistake. HUGE. Seriously? Why would you eat such a thing???

moving on.
6. Any possible "glow" that pregnant women have - that's all crap, right? Or does that come later on? Because the only glow I can think that I might have is from leaning over the toilet.
7. I would like to officially request that pre-natals please come in a more appetizing flavor than what I think closely tastes like dirt. My doc gave me 6 different types to try. The first 2 boxes? One resembles dirt. The second - yeah, pretty much dirt. Yes, I take them in the evening. Because god knows I can't swallow dirt first thing in the morning.

I am off to try and get some sleep.

If any of you feel like updating your blogs, it is fairly safe to think that I will be visiting between 2:30 and 4:30am.

p.s. - the time is now 3:39 am. I am awake and visiting blogs!

ah welcome to it. :)

I never could swallow the prenatals - I took childrens' chewables and a folic acid pill. Oh, and those uber expensive DHA pills that you'll get a billion coupons for.

I also found that my nausea was totally counterintuitive - if I was nauseaous I had to eat to get over it.

Margaret, I am so very happy for you!

I escaped morning sickness, so I have no advice there.

The glow comes in the second trimester.

It was EXACTLY 2:52 a.m. when you visited My Asylum.
You should have called. I was awake, but not for the same reason as you had.
Have you tried 'soda' crackers?

- I took the Citracal tablets - they weren't too bad.
- Never had morning sickness, so I'm no help there.
- When I found out I was pregnant, I realized that was why I was so exhausted all the time. Normal.
- AJ is 3 1/2 years old. I still don't get enough sleep... :(

You are gonna hate me-the only time I ever got sick during all 3 preg. was during the actual delivery.

The insomnia thing only happened with the first one. I went total decaff after lunch and still woke up at 2am. Since drinking Vodka would be frowned upon I just had veggie soup and read until my alarm went off. Yeah I had to work the next day but I was only in the Army so how bad could it be...

YAY!!!!! I am so excited for you. Congratulations!

Starbursts were my life saviors the first few months.

yup - welcome to pregnancy. All those symptoms should all get better by the 2nd trimester.

Oh - and the nerve thing? Well - towards the end, when the baby is huge, it can end up sitting on your sciatic nerve (or others) - so if you sit down at certain angles a lot of pressure is applied to the nerve. It is all temporary and relieved at birth - just a real pain the last month of pregnancy!!!

I just stopped by from Karmyn's place to say, CONGRATULATIONS! I laughed from the first to the last paragraph of this post. I have a couple thoughts:

1. On being tired - You'll get used to it. I've been tired for almost 9 years.

2. On having more than one - You promise the other children a dozen chocolate chip cookies if they will be quiet and let Mommy sleep for an hour.

3. The thought of food - Yep. If I think hard enough, I can remember just how you feel. Three words: Sharp Cheddar Cheese. :p

4. The "glow" - I'm guessing it's the excess oil produced during pregnancy.

5. Prenatals - I would like to suggest that they come in smaller sizes. I swear they're the same diameter as my esophagus!

6. All this stuff you just wrote and complained about - you'll forget all about the moment that baby is born and you'll do it ALL OVER AGAIN. And AGAIN.

;)

I think there should be a no googling while pregnant rule. Ewwww.

Hopefully you'll be feeling pretty good soon. If you can swallow the pills at all, it's a good sign.

I'm so excited for you guys. When you get a picture, will you show us?

Oh and my Cuz, swears by Jolly Ranchers. She sucks on one before she gets out of bed. Most mornings it works. Course now she's in her second, so it's different. But it worked back in the end of the first too.

The glow is from puking. Puking sucks. Like I mentioned in my emails last night, I was sick as could be for the first 6 mths with K.... but by the third, I had it down to a science. Slim-fast very very first thing.... and then hard candies the rest of the day.

Tired.... Oh girl, I am still tired. Welcome to being a mommy!!! I think it starts so early to get your body ready for the next 18 years.

Good luck girlie!!! In a few weeks or less, you will feel soooo much better!

Yahoooooo!!!! I am jumping with excitement over here. I am so glad that it happened so quickly for you. Yippeeee!
Good luck with the nausea et al, ick.
I alway ate to ward off the nausea, like Dawn. I would make sure I had a piece of cheese or something before I even sat up in bed in the morning. And never go to bed hungry. evah...

I think in my first pregnancy, I got over the real tiredness for the second trimester and then it was back. This time, it doesn't seem to have subsided at all. ugh.

I can't help you much but is it okay if I chuckle to myself? You're too funny.

I ate crackers I think. If my tummy was too empty I felt sick and it had to have bland things in it (this was only with #1. the other 3 I ate everything AND looked it!)

And I'm still tired so...almost 13 years now. Not what you were hoping to hear? Should I lie and say that they all do my laundry and vacuuming for me as we sing? lol.

Congrats congrats congrats!
