Words I don't like hearing from my doctor

There's nothing we can do for you....

Seriously - this insomnia... I cannot describe how much it has pissed me off now.

LIterally, I have turned into a walking zombie. I have always gotten to work 30 or so minutes early. The past month or so, those thirty minutes are spent with my car seat reclined, and covered in a blanket I have started leaving in my car.

I take a nap in my car. Every morning.

I wake up each and every night between 12-2am. I am awake sometimes until 4. Sometimes till 4:30. Sometimes, I stay awake till its time to get up for work.

The doctor has suggested many things - Benadryl. Phenergren. Asking Mark not to disturb after I go to bed...nothing works.

The medication knocks me out...but when I wake up, I am merely in a drugged out insomiac haze.

Mark sleeping in the other room - all that does is allow me to lay in my bed rather than the couch when I can't sleep.

When I saw the doctor today (who, by the way, I absolutely officially adore), she shook her head and kinda frowned and said there is not much else we can do. She said for me to sleep when I can. If it means napping when I get home, then nap. if I need to sleep in my car in the morning, that's OK too.

But as far as really HELPING me? not too much.

And yes, I know, this is preparing me for 18 years of craptastic sleep. I understand that. But right now? Not so much on the helping me side....

My sister had the same problem - and the last 2 weeks of her pregnancy, her doctor gave her Ambian. So, maybe you will have that to look forward to.

Sorry - but, pregnancy sucks. You will run into someone soon who will say to you, "Oh, I just LOVED being pregnant." And you will seriously have to hold your arm back because you will want to hit them.

I have not slept well in years! years! years!

and yes I get really cranky about it so don't tell me useless solutions, just knock me OUT.

Hugs, sweetie. I wish I had something better to say. It sucks. and it sucks double when you are pregnant.

I haven't slept well either. But it's not because Fa is keeping me awake. I am keeping me awake.

How do we rest our head?

I can't believe your doctor let you take drugs. My doctor wouldn't let me take anything...ANYTHING! when I was pregnant. I'm sorry that you're not sleeping well, that sucks.

Poor you. I often have pregnancy insomnia as well, but I pray you find some relief soon. Like tonight.

I wish I had an answer but I don't. I feel you pain though.

Don't worry. The not sleeping through the night for 18 years is kind of misleading. By the time little Wolfie is 3, you'll be so worn out that you'll fall into a deep coma each night.
Try eating before bed. That always helps me. I can't sleep on an empty stomach. Yogurt or oatmeal does me good!

I'm so sorry! And I don't have anything to offer you except my sympathies. I agree with Heather, though. Eating something filling before bed might help a wee bit. Always knocks me out.
